I am so in on this and I will do at least 45 minutes a day everyday in December.  No skipping or making up days.  I want to do it the right way and see what happens come January.  The day after the white rock marathon will be tough but I will do it.  Tracking on a spreadsheet for everyone to see is a great idea.

I think that the WR marathoners can get a grace day for the day after...maybe just do 20min the day before and 10-15min the day after and call it good....or maybe the day after can be just a walk day...whatever your body tells you it needs and can handle.

There are 3 F2T workouts for running (TUE, WED, SUN).  There is a 4-day per week run from Casa de Chuck and Michelle (MON, TUES, WED, FRI)...you just have to show up.  Normal start time ranges 5:45-6:15 depending on laziness...it is usually right at 40-45min.

And if you need to bank that FRI, there is the THU HH run in the evening.

Of course there are always the SUN Rowlett runs (Paddleboats when the weather is rainy/wet).

Plenty of options...you just need to get your tails out of bed!

Does that include the ones doing the half marathon at white rock?

Hey, this sounds familiar...

Unfortunately, I had to stop because had an ingrown toenail I had to have surgery on Wednesday.  Oops.  But I might be up to trying it again in December.

WR Half Marathoners - judgement call.  Is this your first half marathon?  Are you racing it or are you just running to get the miles?  These are all questions that only the individual person can answer.

How is that for a non-answer?

if you are "just running to get the miles" why do you have a number on?    we will have to have an executive committee mtg to decide what to do about the half marathoners and marathoners.

Great idea! I'm in.
My only addition to the daily 30 min. run will be the additional minutes on Sunday's long run. Oh boy! This is gonna be a fast team come January...

I'm down for this.  I have been slacking the last two weeks and the 30/30/30 challenge sounds like a good way to get ready for '08.

team--a little more info on the 30/30 challenge.  while scott molina and pals did a minimum of 40 minutes of running, you can choose either 30 or 40 minutes.  the goal here is to improve your aerobic base, get some discipline in your training, and teach yourself some physiological basics (like you can't go hard every day, espcially if you don't stretch).  if you are currently running three days a week, and you add four more runs, you are adding a minimum of two hours of training each week.  so, since you are smart, you will back off your training in some other area, at least initially.  as mikey reminded you, injury is not part of the deal, and increasing volume too quickly is the number one cause of injury--not intensity.  for those of you racing the white rock events on december 9th, this is for you.  FOLLOW YOUR PROGRAM!!  you need to have a great race more than you need to do this challenge, and to not taper or recover properly will lessen the quality of your race and you will remain stale well into next year and wonder why your training is floundering.  those running the half will get two days credit for that race, those running the full will get four days credit, not counting the race itself.  if you need another day or two, take it--again, the purpose of this challenge is to get better and still start 2008 strong and eager.

Richie (AKA Webmaster) is working on a tracking form on the fit2train site for members as well.

Make sure you don't push yourself too hard during the 30-40 minute runs over that 30 days.  Yes, Scott Molina might be the one credited for it but adapt it for what you need it to do. So if you need to take walk breaks.. go for it..

At track this morning we were thinking up other fun things.. like ride the temperature (so if its 40 you ride 40 miles, 100 degrees you ride 100 miles).  Or could do the same with minutes running. 30 degrees = 30 minute run. 50 degrees = 50 minutes.. just fun ways to get into shape!

another thing.  as most of you are going to be increasing your running volume, be sure you are reinforcing good running form.  if you have been coming to the team workouts, you may have gotten tips there that you should work very hard to implement in december.  bad habits are hard to break, and if you reinforce poor running form...
