SOCIAL RUN / HAPPY HOUR. Thursday, December 6th - 7pm at the Village Country Club. As part of the 30 runs (30 - 40 minutes) in 30 days we will get together for some fun social runs. No intervals, no fartleks just FUN! This is OPEN TO ANYONE that wants to attend. Fast, slow, medium, walkers, baby strollers, whatever gets you there. And not just team members. Meet at 6:45pm in front of the Village Country Club. Run will start at 7pm. The Village Country Club is located in the heart of The Village at 8308 Southwestern Blvd. Drinks / food afterwards. I believe there is a Thursday night NFL game on as well if they get NFL Network.

how should we log the 30 minute credits when tapering for White Rock?  The log wants a distance.

you should use your avg pace/mile to get the distance of your 30 min credits.  be sure y'all racers take them.

the challenge is more than a third out of the way--any aches and pains showing up (and i don't mean your running buds)?  keep them at bay with good stretching, hydration, and massage.  keep it fast and fun.  don't just run--work on stuff.  looks like the weather will be keeping the trails closed this wknd--a loop of white rock is the back-up plan.

Where is the Friday morning run?  I am doing 24 slow tomorrow, beginning at 4:45am, and might be looking for company.

that it's nice to have a day off?

or that it's a bad idea to try adding extra runs to your schedule and also try cramming for a final.  that's when i switched back to my normal workout schedule

I really enjoyed the challenge since I've never trained consecutively for 30 days. However, I couldn't make it all the way. Nonetheless I'm happy with about 120 miles total for December, a feat never accomplished before. I feel at lot faster from where I was this past year. Hopefully this solid running base will accompany me for the Austin Marathon and for the 2008 triathlon season. Thanks to all for supporting this great idea and congrats to everyone that stepped up to the challenge.

Chuck,

How did you configure the miles with the minutes???   What was the average pace?  Just to ask.

for the entire group that logged time, somewhat over 9 min/mile.  this is a great thing to build base, but the focus must be on time and not distance.  hence, people did log their distance, but it was not shown.

How is everyone feeling after 5days?

If you are starting to get tired, you might be doing your runs too fast.  Try running the extra runs (those added outside the normal run days) much easier than any of your other runs, or doing some run/walks to ensure that you are not "frying" your legs.
