Hey Team,
Keep Mark Rodgers in your prayers.  He was CareFlighted out of the WildRide today and is in Parkland Hospital.
Two dogs, one bike and asphalt added up to a pretty devastating crash.

Mark is not in ICU.  the list of injuries are
Severe Concussion (they are monitoring him closely as he is bleeding inside of his skull)
Separated / dislocated shoulder
Broken wrist
Epic Road rash
He also has a bunch of stiches.

Big thanks to Katia for calling ahead to Parkland and coordinating excellent care for him.

I will post when I know more - and when he lets me post pictures!

Quick update.  Mark was discharged on Sunday only to be re-admitted Sunday night.  Currently he is stable and resting somewhat comfortably.

Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  With luck they will not try to rapidly discharge him again.

Thanks Michael for the updates. Just spoke with Mark at the hospital and he is going home today at 10:00 am. He is in good spirits however his head hurts quite a bit. The only thing he remembers about the accident is that someone yelled "Dogs", he saw this dog very close to him and the next thing he remembers was the sound of the helicopter. Scary stuff! Anyway, I think he will be okay!

All,

You all may not know Mark by name, but you know him as the guy who always pulls on the toughest parts of the South Loop - the guy on the Kestrel tri bike.

As Victor mentioned, Mark is out of the hospital and that's obviously good.  We are trying to figure out where to go from here as it relates to future treatment and therapy for his hand/wrist and shoulder.

His brother is currently in town to help him for a couple of days.  Mark will be unable to work or even drive for sometime.  As such, he may need friends to bring him things, take him to an appointment, and just check on him.  If you can help out, please drop me an email at jimmy@beckham-group.com and I'll keep a list of those who may be able to help.  Mark will be very grateful.

BIG BIG thanks to Michael Warren for his help and to Darren Durrett for looking after Mark at Parkland and who was being trained by Mark for Kansas 70.3.

Thank you all,
JimmyB

I know this being quite an old thread but would like to add that Mark is really lucky, however, everyone is not. My cousin who worked for a Los Angeles DUI lawyer met with quite a similar accident and could never recover.
